"Expedition" has become a focal point of the Army Cadet Program thanks in a large part to the generous donations we have received over past years. The high-end Domestic and International Expeditions are the "icing on the cake" for the cadets who have taken part in expedition training to develop their skills at the cadet corps, Area and provincial Regional levels.
The International Cadets will spend 16 days in September trekking and touring Northern Italy. The main activity of this Expedition is the use of the "Via Ferrata" or "Klettersteig". These exposed trails secured with cables were originally put in place during World War I, remnants of which still exist today. This expedition will include trekking with frequent scrambling on the Via Ferrata, for up to eight hours. This high and exposed area of rock will be mentally and physically demanding. This travel experience will provide the cadets many opportunities to develop more self-reliance, leadership and the true spirit of adventure! |

Cadets in action |
The backwaters of the southern interior of BC, in Cathedral Provincial Park, are the backdrop for this year's Domestic Expedition. Cadets will paddle and climb their way through the granite spires and ridges that represent the northern edge of the Cascade Mountains. This expedition will provide senior cadets an opportunity to practice leadership, trekking and navigation skills. It will also introduce climbing/ scrambling skills under the guidance of both CIC officers and professional mountain guides.
