Gerard Buckley Cadet Fund(GBCF)

(Ottawa)- Gerard Buckley and the Army Cadet League of Canada are pleased to announce the four Army Cadet Corps who are the recipients of the 2013 GBCF:

  •  # 38 – Ernest McLeod Cadet Corps, Cross Lake, MB
  • # 2941 – RCACC Clearwater BC,  BC
  • # 1635 – Kapuskasing High School Cadet Corps, ON
  • # 2837 – Yellowknife Cadet Corps – Yellowknife, NT
  • A special grant suggested by Gerard has been awarded to the # 2383 – Foothills Highlander Army Cadets – Okotoks, AB due to flood damage sustained at the Cadet Corps during the devastating flood that occurred in Calgary in June 2013.

Mr. Buckley, a former Army Cadet from Newfoundland and Labrador created the GBCF jointly with the Army Cadet League of Canada and Scotiabank, to fund training and activities not covered by the Department of National Defence. Mr. Buckley has generously increased his support to the Canadian Army Cadet Movement by distributing the grant of $3000 to each of four Army Cadet Corps.

Congratulations to the winning Army Cadet Corps and thank you to all the corps who submitted applications.

2013 Canada’s Most Outstanding Army Cadet announcedSeptember 4, 2013

Srosh Hassan_croppedThe Army Cadet League of Canada and the Royal Canadian Legion are pleased to announce that Cadet Chief Warrant Officer Srosh Hassan from Edmonton, AB, of the 2551 Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Cadet Corps was named Canada’s most outstanding Army Cadet and the recipient of the 2013 General Walsh Memorial Sword.
