GERARD BUCKLEY CADET FUND – Winners:

March 21, 2012

Gerard Buckley and the Army Cadet League of Canada are pleased to announce the four Army Cadet Corps who are the recipients of the 2011 GBCF:

  • #492 Military Police RCACC, Gananoque. ON
  • #2512 King’s Own Calgary Regiment Cadet Corps, Cochrane, AB
  • #2904 Cambrai RCACC, Stephenville, NL
  • #2924 Kowutzn RCAC, Duncan, BC
  •  A special grant will be awarded to: #3080 1 Combat Engineer Regiment RCACC, Burns Lake, BC.

Mr. Gerard Buckley has generously authorized an additional special grant to the 3080 1 Combat Engineer Regiment RCACC in Burns Lake, BC due to the disastrous fire at the mill there. The mill was integral to the community and had supported the cadet corps. With that still not back in operation the economic effect on the community is still being felt.

Mr. Buckley, a former Army Cadet from Newfoundland and Labrador created the GBCF jointly with the Army Cadet League of Canada and Scotiabank, to fund training and activities not covered by the Department of National Defence. Mr. Buckley has generously increased his support to the Canadian Army Cadet Movement by distributing the grant of $3000 to each of four Army Cadet Corps.

Congratulations to the winning Army Cadet Corps and thank you to all the corps who submitted applications. Deadline for the 2011 Gerard Buckley Fund is November 30th, 2012
