Cathy Bach

Cathy comes to the League with over 40 years of business management experience.  30 of those years was as a Senior Executive for Canada’s oldest retail chain:  The Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC).  There she developed a reputation for taking on new projects and successfully managing them from concept, through implementation, to successful completion while increasing profitability and efficiency.  Her high-energy, result oriented, multi-tasking abilities, and excellent decision-making skills enabled her to build cohesive teams with diverse people.  She is known to thrive on challenges and works well under pressure.  Upon retirement from HBC, Cathy started her own consulting business and Italian Deli bringing business and communities together. 

Despite her husband’s warnings, Cathy was conscripted into the League in 2002.  From then until 2018, she directly worked with four Support Committees in the greater Vancouver area.  She served as Chair of each of those Support Committees, three of which she helped form as part of Army Cadet expansion in the area.  She was elected to the British Columbia Branch Board in 2010 and the National Board of Directors in 2011.  She was elected as President British Columbia Branch in 2017.  Cathy was elected National President of The Army Cadet League of Canada in 2019 and has led the organization through the pandemic. 

As National President of The Army Cadet League of Canada, Cathy serves as Chair of the National Board of Directors.  She is also the sitting member of the National Cadet Council and National Cadet Board with her colleagues with the Canadian Armed Forces, Navy League of Canada, and Air Cadet League of Canada. 

Cathy is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades over the years including the Major Charles Whisker Volunteer Award (British Columbia Branch) in 2011, National League Member of the Year in 2011, and Chief of the Defence Staff Citation in 2014.  Cathy is also a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012) and Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers (2020). 

Cathy is a first generation Canadian of Italian immigrants.  She is happily married to her husband of 41 years: Randy.  Together, they are the proud parents to Jennifer, Adam, and daughter-in-law Danna, with two beautiful grandchildren Aria Rose and Logan Alexander, and a grand fur-baby Hunter.  In her free time, she enjoys the great outdoors and is known to hunt and hike.  She a black belt in Taekwondo and also enjoys kickboxing, baking, makes a mean lasagna, and can text 120 words per minute.
